AUGUSTA - William Lee Shoemaker, 21, Augusta, died shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at his home of a self-inflicted rifle wound to the right temple, authorities confirmed Friday.
He had undergone treatment at the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant, authorities said.
He was born May 28, 1950, in Burlington, the son of James and Mable Shoemaker Van Winkle. He attended Burligton High School and was a member of Zion United Church.
